Already using Plan A? What its record leaves open
Limitations the Plan A profile records:
- No published price, currency or trial
- API access listed from Pro; CSRD and supplier data are add-ons
- Help centre is not public, so procedures could not be checked
Available only under stated conditions or not documented (checked 11 October 2026): API; CSRD Manager; Supplier data (Supply Chain+); Security attestation. Check each against the contract you hold.
Plan A evaluation checks, for every candidate
- Methodology and boundaries: Read the TÜV certificate scope and ask for the review report's assessment limits; check factor sources for your largest Scope 3 categories. Source
- Data onboarding effort: Test file mapping and PDF extraction on your own files and decide whether the optional data migration service is needed. Source
- Package and add-on boundary: Map API, advanced reporting, CSRD, supplier data and AI features to the package or add-on that carries each one before comparing quotes. Source
- Integration terms: Check that the API's permitted use and rate limits cover your planned data flows in both directions. Source
- Ownership change: Ask how the Diginex acquisition affects contracting, hosting, support and roadmap. Source
Leaving Plan A: what to plan for
- The activity log is the provenance record for uploads: it tracks files by emission category with uploader, timestamp and download, replace or delete options. Download the uploaded files and export the log before leaving, and repeat the record's own check of what happens to the earlier calculation when a file is replaced.
- If the CSRD add-on is in use, the ESRS data points, tasks and imported materiality and gap-analysis results sit in a module listed separately from the base package. Ask for an export of the data-point collection and the report package, because the record's demonstration ends by listing what still needs manual work.
- Ownership has changed, so name the contracting party in any notice or data-return request. The record says the parent announced the closing of its acquisition on 14 January 2026 and asks which contracting entity, data location and support apply to existing customers, which the contract rather than the website has to answer.
Who may have reason to stay with Plan A
- A team that relies on the methodology review should read what it covers before counting it as a reason to stay. The record says the certificate relates to the calculation methodology (status April 2026) against the GHG Protocol and its ICT sector guidance, and is not verification of a customer's footprint. A candidate can be asked what its own review covers.
- Targets, reduction actions, action roadmaps, internal carbon pricing and forecasts against targets are listed together. A team whose reduction plan lives in those roadmaps is moving a plan as well as a footprint, and the record's baseline-to-target sequence, with a growth assumption, is what to rebuild elsewhere.
- Check whether the gap lies inside the product's stated scope. The record places safety, quality and wider social or governance workflows outside it.
What to test in a trial of a replacement for Plan A
- Upload one real energy spreadsheet and one supplier invoice PDF, correct a suggested mapping, and open the log entry for the upload. Doing this with your own files exposes mapping and extraction behaviour that a vendor's sample data would not.
- Feed each candidate files with missing units, duplicate rows and invalid periods and record which problems it detects before anything is calculated. The record adds that automated checks do not replace an accountable review, so note who approves the corrected data as well.
- Take one Scope 3 category and obtain spend-based and activity-based results side by side, with the emission factor sources and versions shown. The record points to checking factor sources for the largest categories.
