Mitti (by SafetyCulture) vs Intelex: compare scope and field workflows

SafetyCulture is now Mitti. Compare its published plans with the precise Intelex tier you would buy; entry packages and broader enterprise deployments have different limits.

Pair-specific vendor documentation reviewed on . Individual profile notes retain their own source dates below. The scenario and evaluation advice are editorial analysis; this is not a hands-on comparison.

    Prepare this vendor scorecard

Which requirements should drive the decision?

Compare the entry route with the scope you will actually run. Mitti (by SafetyCulture) documents a Free plan, a 14-day Premium trial and seat types with different permissions; Intelex publishes Safety Essentials pricing with a 25-user minimum and quotes Advanced and Enterprise. Both document incidents or issues, inspections and corrective actions. Decide on the plan, seat mix, offline limits and permit or document needs of your workflow, not on the headline entry offer.

    Consider Mitti (by SafetyCulture) when…

    • You are starting with inspections and corrective actions and can test the Free plan's template and user limits on real recurring work.
    • You can map frequent inspectors, occasional contributors and reviewers to full, lite and guest seats before costing the rollout.
    Published scope and 6 sources

The Free plan allows 10 active users and unlimited inspections with 5 active templates, and a 14-day Premium trial is documented. Paid plans mix full, lite and guest seats; guest seats are free but restricted. Offline work is mobile-app only after preparation, and analytics, notifications, lone worker, the template editor and other listed features do not work offline. Account-free QR reporting asks for contact details, so it is not anonymous. Our evidence records no permit-to-work or chemical workflow.

    Consider Intelex when…

    • You are standardising safety workflows across several sites and expect to add permit, document or ESG applications as named line items.
    • An integration must respect site and record permissions, and your integration owner can test permitted and denied records with the proposed account.
    Published scope and 5 sources

Safety Essentials is US$44 per user per month, 25-user minimum, billed annually, covering incidents, action plans and inspections; other safety applications are add-ons. Essentials lists responsive web and the higher tiers list native iOS and Android apps. Separate Permit to Work and Regulatory Permit Management applications and a REST API that keeps the authenticated user's permissions are documented. Free trial access is by request; its duration and enabled applications need confirming.

Run these three tasks in both demos

    1. Run the same inspection and incident with the proposed roles, then repeat without connectivity.

Acceptance evidence: Record the plan, seat type or tier and the app used. For Mitti, prepare content before disconnecting and note the features excluded offline; for Intelex, confirm native app entitlement in the quoted tier. Check server receipt, photos and duplicates after reconnecting.

    2. Assign a corrective action, reject incomplete closure and review the correction.

Acceptance evidence: Show which seat or role can create, review and close the action; a free guest seat or an account-free QR reporter is not a reviewer. Mark each step as included, an add-on or unavailable in the quoted plan.

    3. Export the inspection-to-action history and, if permits are in scope, request a hazardous-work permit.

Acceptance evidence: Export formats and integration access depend on the plan, so show them on the plan you would buy. For Intelex, show the Permit to Work application separately from Permit Management; for Mitti, ask for any permit workflow to be demonstrated, and record it as open scope if none is shown.

    Keep the decision open if…

Keep the decision open if the Free plan or trial covers capture but not the follow-up you need, a seat restriction blocks a recurring task, or native offline access is assumed in Intelex Essentials. No implementation timeline, three-year total cost or support level was established for either vendor. On 25 September 2026 Mitti's pricing page showed Premium at $24 per seat/month billed annually or $29 monthly, excluding taxes, and its FAQ says billing is in USD outside Australia and New Zealand; it does not say which seat type that price covers, so confirm it for your seat mix.

    Align the proposals

Give both vendors the same sites, inspectors, reviewers, administrators and export needs. For Mitti, name the plan and seat mix and confirm currency and billing; for Intelex, check the 25-user annual minimum (US$13,200 a year at list price) and itemise add-on applications, native mobile access and implementation. Ask both for support hours, response times and any support charge in writing.

    Where the two scopes differ

The guide above contrasts the entry routes. The records add the arithmetic and what each price leaves out. Intelex Safety Essentials has a 25-user floor, which at the published rate is US$13,200 a year. Mitti Premium was shown at $24 per seat per month billed annually, the same for every team-size option, so 25 seats would come to $7,200 a year and, at the monthly rate of $29, $8,700. Read those figures as arithmetic, not as a cost comparison: the Mitti record says the page does not state which seat type the amount covers, and the two packages are not the same scope. Intelex adds other safety applications as add-ons, and Mitti separates full, lite and guest seats.

The records differ on what the product can be asked to do. Mitti documents investigations that prepare OSHA 300, 300A and 301 downloads, a training feature, and QR reporting for people without accounts, and its record lists no permit-to-work or chemical workflow. Intelex lists Permit to Work and Regulatory Permit Management as separate applications, plus Document Control with acknowledgements, nonconformance and corrective action applications, audit scheduling and a Workday gateway. The Mitti record adds a caution that applies to any tool: a completed form, an audit checklist or a training completion is not proof that work was controlled or that a person is competent.

Access works differently too. In Mitti, investigations, the API and integrations need a full seat, and the account-free QR route asks for contact details and is not shown to share the app's offline behaviour. In Intelex, the record describes licensed users of the quoted tier, an API that keeps the calling user's permissions and no login-free reporting route. If suppliers, visitors or occasional contributors must report, test that route in each product instead of assuming it.

When each is the safer first demo

Start with Mitti (by SafetyCulture) when

Mitti is the safer first demo when you are not yet sure the workflow needs more than inspections and actions. Use the Free plan and the 14-day trial on one recurring template, let the real work show who inspects, who reviews and who only contributes, and take that seat map to Intelex as your requirement list. Set a reminder before the trial ends, because billing starts then if payment details were entered.

    Start with Intelex when

Intelex is the safer first demo when permits, document control, nonconformances or HR-fed worker records are already on the list, or when a multi-site safety standard has to be bought through one contract. Ask for the session on the tier that carries a price, and have the vendor say which applications must be added, since Essentials lists responsive web and does not include Permit to Work.

    A two-week evaluation plan

    Ask Mitti (by SafetyCulture)

    • Confirm which seat type the published Premium amount covers, what lite seats cost, whether the annual or monthly amount applies, and what billing starts when the trial ends.
    • Ask which exports and integrations your plan allows and which need a full seat, and whether the OSHA section and investigations are available on it.

    Ask Intelex

    • State the tier and name each application beyond incidents, action plans and inspections, then ask for native mobile access, API access and services as separate lines.
    • Ask what the free trial access covers and for how long, and what minimum users and billing term follow it.

Week 1, the same inspection in both. Choose a recurring inspection with photos, run it with the roles you propose, then repeat it with the connection off. On Mitti, prepare the device first and note which listed features stay unavailable offline; on Intelex, use the native app of the tier you would buy. After reconnecting, check receipt, attachments and duplicates, assign an action, reject a weak closure and see who is allowed to close it. Keep a log of every step that needed a seat, an add-on or a higher tier.

Week 2, the edges. If you record injuries for OSHA, create a test establishment and case in Mitti and compare the downloaded PDFs with your recordkeeper's files; ask Intelex which application produces the equivalent and in what format. Then test outside reporters: the browser QR route in Mitti against a guest seat, and what Intelex offers for suppliers or visitors. Close by costing both for the same headcount, using your seat mix for Mitti and the tier and add-ons for Intelex.

What the records do not establish

    Mitti (by SafetyCulture)

    • Which seat type the Premium amount covers, or any price for Enterprise or per-location terms.
    • A permit-to-work or chemical workflow.
    • Direct submission to OSHA, or offline processing of AI voice drafts.
    • That a completed inspection is a governed audit with independent corrective-action closure.

    Intelex

    • A price for Advanced or Enterprise, or for any add-on.
    • Native offline use at Essentials, or offline permit authorisation.
    • The length of the free trial access and the applications it enables.
    • That a published Workday or other connection is in place for your systems.

    Neither product

    • An implementation timeline, support level or three-year cost.
    • Any hands-on comparison of speed or ease of use.

Written from the profile records and the decision guide above, not from a hands-on test. Where a record is silent, the page says so instead of filling the gap.

    What this comparison cannot establish

This documentation review does not establish a winner, implementation duration, total contract cost or synchronization reliability. Absence from a product page does not prove that a capability is unavailable. Require the vendor to demonstrate each requirement using the proposed applications and licenses.

Mark a requirement as demonstrated, partly demonstrated, not demonstrated, or outside the quoted scope. Record the evidence and follow-up owner. Do not treat an unanswered question as proof that a capability is absent.

    Intelex buyer notes

Can I evaluate both with a free trial?

Mitti documents a Free plan and a 14-day Premium trial; payment details supplied during the trial enable billing after it ends. Intelex offers free trial access by request, so confirm its duration and the applications enabled. Neither entry route proves that your required roles, exports or offline steps are included in the plan you would buy.
