Which requirements should drive the decision?

Editorial interpretation of the linked vendor documentation, checked . These priorities and demo tasks are recommendations; no comparative product test was performed.

    Consider Cority when…

    • Clinical records and their relationship to exposure or surveillance workflows are central to the purchase.
    • Health specialists need to evaluate access boundaries separately from general safety reporting.
    Published scope

Cority's FAQ describes employee health records, medical surveillance, case management, exposure history and industrial-hygiene sampling.

    Sources: listed under Vendor sources.

    Consider VelocityEHS when…

    • Chemical records or ergonomics assessments are the first workflow you need to resolve.
    • You want to assess the handoff between a specialist application and your safety action process.
    Published scope

Accelerate presents chemical inventory and SDS workflows, ergonomics assessment, safety processes and operational-risk applications in its portfolio.

    Sources: listed under Vendor sources.

Run these three tasks in both demos

    1. Use a synthetic exposure or ergonomic finding and route the follow-up to the appropriate specialist.

Acceptance evidence: Record the exact applications involved and demonstrate the handoff, rather than counting unrelated module names.

    2. Open the same case as a health professional, a supervisor and a group analyst.

Acceptance evidence: Sensitive details and aggregate reporting follow the access rules your responsible reviewers specified.

    3. Change an exposure or chemical record and inspect linked actions and exports.

Acceptance evidence: A reviewer can trace the version, ownership and evidence used in the subsequent decision.

    Keep the decision open if…

Pause selection if a critical clinical, chemical or ergonomics requirement is only promised for an unnamed add-on, or if the required permission boundary cannot be demonstrated.

    Align the proposals

Request named applications, specialist licences, field-user roles, migration of historical records and implementation deliverables. Ask which mobile app handles each required task and whether its licence is included.

    Where the two scopes differ

The two records overlap on incident follow-up, inspections and corrective actions, and diverge in what surrounds that core. The Cority record separates four things that a portfolio page can blur: authorising high-hazard work through an electronic permit application, incident follow-up, tracking environmental obligations, and sustainability reporting. It also lists industrial hygiene exposure assessment and sampling, and the guide above cites Cority's FAQ for employee health records and medical surveillance. The VelocityEHS record is organised by named application instead: safety, chemicals, ergonomics and operational risk, with environmental compliance, sustainability and contractor safety or permit to work treated as requirements that are scoped on their own.

Two differences are likely to shape most demos. The first is permit to work. The Cority record lists an electronic permit application as documented capability, while the VelocityEHS record describes a distinct permit product and marks its inclusion as depending on what is contracted. The second is chemicals and ergonomics. The VelocityEHS record documents safety data sheet and chemical tools and a separate ergonomics range; the Cority record does not describe either. That is a statement about what was reviewed, not about what Cority sells: the navigation on its FAQ page names Chemical Management and Industrial Ergonomics products, which the record has not covered, so ask Cority which module covers which workflow. Both records also warn that tracking an environmental permit is a different workflow from authorising a hazardous task, so a demo that shows one must not be scored as the other.

Both vendors sell by proposal. The Cority record describes an initial three-year term with Standard and Enterprise options and a separate implementation statement of work. The VelocityEHS record found no pricing page on 26 September 2026, and the only fee it lists is a perpetual licence for a separately sold desktop ergonomics tool. Neither fact lets you compare a first-year cost.

When each is the safer first demo

    Start with Cority when

Open with Cority when the first requirement concerns a person's health record: who may open an exposure result, how a surveillance case links to a workplace finding, and what a supervisor is refused. The record also gives a reason for caution in the other direction. If you only need basic inspections, a limited deployment should be compared with a simpler product, because breadth repays its administration cost only when the chosen workflows use it.

    Start with VelocityEHS when

Open with VelocityEHS when the first requirement is a chemical record, an ergonomic assessment, or field capture that has to work in a specific app. The record documents offline incident, near-miss and hazard capture and checklist download in the EHS app, and saved safety data sheets in a separate chemical app. Start there, then ask to see how a finding reaches a corrective action, because the record asks you to confirm the handoffs between applications.

    A two-week evaluation plan

    Ask Cority

    • Name the solution areas in the quote line by line, so that each of permit to work, incident follow-up, environmental obligations and sustainability reporting can be traced to a licence.
    • Set out what the three-year initial term, the annual uplift and the implementation statement of work add up to in year one and in year three.

    Ask VelocityEHS

    • Name the application behind every workflow in the quote, and say whether permit to work and contractor safety are inside it or sold apart.
    • Agree evaluation access for the operational workflows in writing. The public safety data sheet offer covers limited document downloads and does not stand in for it.

Week 1, identical for both: with synthetic data, capture an incident on a phone with the connection off, reconnect, and check the synchronised record and the action it creates. Then run one hazardous-work request through each product's permit workflow if it is quoted, and note whether it sits in a separate product. Neither record establishes a free trial, so the two weeks depend on a vendor-provided demo environment; agree dates, test users and data before the clock starts.

Week 2, the specialist handoff you actually need. For Cority, open one exposure or surveillance record as a health professional, a supervisor and an analyst and write down what each can see. For VelocityEHS, turn a chemical or ergonomic finding into a corrective action and watch a revised safety data sheet reach a device. Finish by exporting the evidence from both and reading each quote line against what you saw.

What the records do not establish

    Cority

    • A free trial, or any public subscription amount.
    • Offline permit authorisation or offline sustainability reporting. The offline workflows named are incident, inspection and observation capture, plus audit execution.
    • Chemical or ergonomics workflows, which the record does not list either way.
    • Heat stress handling as a product capability: it rests on two vendor blog articles, not product documentation.

    VelocityEHS

    • A subscription price for any platform application.
    • Offline environmental reporting, greenhouse gas calculation, permit approval or synchronisation conflict behaviour.
    • Whether the separate permit product belongs to the scope you would be quoted.
    • Clinical occupational-health records. The record documents an industrial hygiene programme and asks you to confirm the medical-surveillance handoff.

    Neither product

    • Relative implementation time, total cost, user satisfaction, or fit with your regulator's reporting format.
    • Any hands-on result: both records are vendor documentation reviews.

Written from the profile records and the decision guide above, not from a hands-on test. Where a record is silent, the page says so instead of filling the gap.

    Cority vs VelocityEHS | FAQ

Does Cority's clinical focus mean VelocityEHS cannot meet health requirements?
No. Published emphasis is a reason to ask different opening questions, not evidence of an absent capability. Require an application-specific demonstration and contractual scope from both candidates.
    Which product is cheaper?
Comparable total cost has not been established. Request the same applications, users, sites, configuration, migration, integrations and support period from both vendors. Published entry pricing is subject to the plan conditions shown in each profile.
How should I compare offline capability?
Use the exact proposed mobile application and plan. Download required data, disconnect, create a record with a photo, reconnect and inspect synchronization. Record which preparation and tasks require connectivity.
How should I decide between these products?
Set acceptance criteria for your actual workflow. Complete the same demo, record observed results separately from vendor statements and resolve remaining questions in a scoped pilot. The linked profiles show the sources and review status for each product.
