    Where the two scopes differ

These records are about different things on the same shop floor. 1factory is described around a part: drawing-linked inspection plans, first article reports, process-capability analysis, measurement-file import, gage calibration and, in a separately licensed QMS scope, nonconformances, corrective actions and supplier requests. VelocityEHS is described around people, chemicals and the environment: safety applications for incidents, inspections and actions, chemical management, ergonomics, operational risk, with environmental compliance, sustainability, industrial hygiene and contractor safety or permit-to-work presented as separately scoped parts of a wider range.

Corrective action is the point where the two meet, and the records draw a boundary. The 1factory record covers actions arising from inspections, nonconformances, complaints and audit findings, subject to the QMS licence. The VelocityEHS record says its Action Management handles actions across safety and compliance records, which is no evidence of coverage for product quality, supplier quality or controlled QMS release. Neither record says how one product's action would reference an event held in the other, so any joined-up process would be work for the buyer.

Published terms differ sharply. 1factory lists a monthly price for each of three units (quality-control users, connected suppliers, QMS users), with minimums, on at least a one-year term billed annually, plus quoted Enterprise options. VelocityEHS showed no pricing page at the record's 26 September 2026 check; one separately sold desktop ergonomics tool lists licence fees on its own page, and the free sheet offer is a small download allowance, not a platform trial. Offline behaviour is documented for two VelocityEHS apps and not established for 1factory. The 1factory record carries vendor-stated SOC 2 Type II and a FedRAMP Moderate Equivalence statement for its GOV environment only; the VelocityEHS record lists no certification.

When each is the safer first demo

    Start with 1factory when

1factory suits a first demo when the opening requirement is evidence about a manufactured part. Bring a revised drawing, a real measurement file and one failed gage, then ask to see the revision trail, the file mapping and the route from a failure to a corrective action.

    Start with VelocityEHS when

VelocityEHS suits a first demo when the opening requirement is an injury, a chemical or an exposure. Bring one incident, one supplier sheet and one task for ergonomic review, then ask which named application handles each and how the investigation reaches a corrective action.

    A two-week evaluation plan

    Ask 1factory

    • Does the corrective-action workflow you need sit in the quality-control seat or in the separate QMS licence, and does the quote meet the user minimums?
    • Which hosting, validation and equipment-capture options does the quote include, and who owns an ERP interface once it is live?

    Ask VelocityEHS

    • Which named application stands behind each workflow in the quote: safety, chemical, ergonomics, operational risk, environmental, sustainability, permit to work?
    • Which mobile app and account does each offline task need, and how does a revised safety data sheet reach a saved device?

Week 1: run one event of the same shape through both. In 1factory, fail a measured characteristic on a part, open a nonconformance from the inspection and follow it to a corrective action. In VelocityEHS, capture an incident in the mobile app, work through investigation and root cause, then assign a corrective action. No verified trial exists for either (the free sheet offer covers only a few downloads), so ask for vendor-run workspaces with the applications you would buy.

Week 2: test the field and the instrument. In 1factory, record a failed gage calibration and see which inspections it flags as affected. In VelocityEHS, download a checklist and save a sheet, go offline, capture a hazard and retrieve the sheet, then reconnect and check the action owner. Finish by asking each vendor to total the quote line by line, including users, sites, interfaces and support.

    Worked evaluation scenarios

These scenarios are hypothetical. They show how to turn the record facts into a demo test and what outcome would change a choice; they are not case studies or customer results.

Hypothetical: two instruments fail calibration in the same week

A plant finds that a micrometre used for part inspection and an air-sampling pump used for exposure work are both out of tolerance. The 1factory pages describe gage calibration schedules, calibration records, links from gages to inspection lots and a way to find measurements possibly affected since the last good calibration. The VelocityEHS record lists equipment calibration inside its industrial hygiene scope and says to confirm which applications and handoffs are included. Enter one failed calibration in each product and ask which earlier records are flagged as affected, who is told and what action is opened. If the tracing stops at the instrument, decide who searches the results by hand.

Hypothetical: an injury and a scrap report share a root cause

A press operator is hurt by a fixture that the quality team had already logged as a source of scrapped parts. The 1factory record places nonconformances, corrective actions and supplier requests in a separately licensed QMS scope. The VelocityEHS record describes incident investigation with root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and adds that coverage of product quality, supplier quality or controlled QMS release is not established for its Action Management. Raise the injury in VelocityEHS and the scrap in 1factory, then ask each vendor how it would reference the other event. If two corrective-action registers exist for one fixture, name who reconciles them and how often.

Hypothetical: a fabrication bay where Wi-Fi never reaches

Inspectors and safety staff walk a fabrication bay where the network does not reach. The VelocityEHS pages say the EHS app captures incidents, near misses and hazards offline and downloads company checklists, and that the chemical app keeps saved sheets and earlier scans; the record leaves environmental reporting, permit approvals and sync conflicts open. The 1factory record did not establish disconnected inspection entry, and notes that a local file or on-premise hosting does not prove an offline workflow. Run a checklist and a measurement entry in flight mode on the same phone, reconnect and compare the records. If one entry is refused offline, note which task it blocks.

What the records do not establish

    1factory

    • Whether inspection entry works with no network.
    • How long a rollout takes, or any independently verified review score.
    • Compatibility of your equipment with automated capture, or a ready-made ERP connector behind the published interface.
    • That the Traveler and MES product, labelled for December 2026, has been released.

    VelocityEHS

    • A price for any application, or a trial of the platform.
    • Offline environmental reporting, GHG calculations or permit approvals, and how sync conflicts resolve.
    • That Action Management covers quality, supplier or controlled-release work.
    • That the whole range is one subscription.

    Neither product

    • Which product reduces injuries, defects or audit findings: no outcome comparison was reviewed.
    • Whether the 1factory attestations hold for your hosting choice, since no report was reviewed, and what the empty certification list for VelocityEHS means.

    Which product is cheaper?
Comparable total cost has not been established. Request the same applications, users, sites, configuration, migration, integrations and support period from both vendors. Published entry pricing is subject to the plan conditions shown in each profile.
How should I compare offline capability?
Use the exact proposed mobile application and plan. Download required data, disconnect, create a record with a photo, reconnect and inspect synchronization. Record which preparation and tasks require connectivity.
How should I decide between these products?
Set acceptance criteria for your actual workflow. Complete the same demo, record observed results separately from vendor statements and resolve remaining questions in a scoped pilot. The linked profiles show the sources and review status for each product.
