Already using CORE-EHS? What its record leaves open
Limitations the CORE-EHS profile records:
- No verified numeric software pricing
- Offline permit authorization remains unverified
- Software and professional services need separate scoping
Available only under stated conditions or not documented (checked 11 October 2026): Isolation and risk checks; Cross-site EHS reporting. Check each against the contract you hold.
Listed candidates that document a capability with a related name (confirm the scope in a demo):
- “Isolation and risk checks”: Evotix's “Enterprise permit, change and isolation modules”.
CORE-EHS evaluation checks, for every candidate
- Functional depth: Test permit authorization, suspension and closure using actual site procedures. Source
- Usability & adoption: Observe reporter and approver roles separately on the intended devices. Source
- Implementation & TCO: Separate named products, implementation, support and professional services. Source
- Integrations & API: Require an interface specification and proof of shared identifiers between proposed products.
- Security & trust: Validate authorization roles, record history and security evidence for the actual deployment.
Leaving CORE-EHS: what to plan for
- Permits are hard to move in flight. The permit product covers requests, authorisation, status tracking and closure, and its authorisation history is the evidence an investigation would ask for. Choose a cutover that lets open permits close in the old system, retain the full history for each permit, including who approved and what isolation checks were recorded, and issue new permits only in the replacement.
- Work out which named products you actually use. The record lists EHS360 as the broad platform and CORE e-PTW, IRIS, CSM 360, InspectSafe360, HIRAC, Skill Hub, Safety Audit and Asset Integrity as separately named products or modules, with inclusion, shared records and packaging to be confirmed in a proposal. Consulting, staffing and training are separate services from the software, so ending one does not end the other.
- Contractor and risk data have to be rebuilt as well as exported. Contractors went through pre-qualification, onboarding and training, so their expiry dates and renewal reminders need to reach the new system or they will lapse unnoticed. Risk matrices, scoring rules and approval gates are configurable here; export your definitions and the residual-risk logic as written rules, since the replacement may not reproduce them by default.
Who may have reason to stay with CORE-EHS
- The record points to industrial teams whose main need is traceable work authorisation with follow-up. If your permits depend on an approval that cannot be given while an isolation verification is missing, and you have watched that rule work on your own procedures, it is a proven behaviour, and a replacement has to be shown to block the same approval before you rely on it.
- Offline permit approval is unproven here, which cuts both ways. The portfolio advertises offline scanning, capture and signing, while the permit page establishes mobile access only. If connectivity is your reason for leaving, ask each candidate for a list of operations that are blocked when the connection is lost, for permits specifically, instead of a general offline claim.
- The links between modules are the value if you use them. A contractor record, a permit and an incident are meant to share identifiers, and the bow-tie product describes connections to incident data. Several EHS360 modules in one plant mean that a move splits records that currently trace to each other, so a candidate should be tested on that trace and not on each module alone.
What to test in a trial of a replacement for CORE-EHS
- Test permit authorisation under fault conditions. Load a sample high-risk task, leave an isolation check incomplete and try to approve it with a test account, then disconnect the device and note which transitions are still allowed, reconnect and read the authorisation history before closing the permit. A feature list cannot show whether an unsafe job can be authorised.
- Follow a contractor through to an incident. Create a contractor with a training requirement, link the contractor to a proposed permit, record a related incident, and trace the shared identifiers, assigned actions and the final export across everything on the quote. If the candidate sells these as separate modules, require an interface specification and proof of shared identifiers.
- Put your own risk method into a risk assessment. Enter hazards for equipment, activity and environment, apply your own severity and likelihood criteria and look at how the rating is computed, choose controls by the hierarchy, assign owners and dates, submit for review, then attach closure evidence and check the residual-risk calculation and the approval history. Ask for software, implementation and services on separate lines.
