Already using SafetyAmp? What its record leaves open

    Limitations the SafetyAmp profile records:

    • Inspection synchronization limits require a demo
    • Independent verification or rejection of action closure was not established
    • Implementation and selected modules affect total cost
    • Integration entitlement needs written confirmation

Available only under stated conditions or not documented (checked 2 October 2026): Offline safety data sheets; Disconnected inspection synchronization; Contractor qualification and check-in; API and identity integrations; Training assignment and renewal tracking; JSA/JHA risk scoring and mitigation; Role access and encryption controls. Check each against the contract you hold.

Listed candidates that document a capability with a related name (confirm the scope in a demo):

    • “Disconnected inspection synchronization”: Mango QHSE's “Inspection design and scheduling”, myosh's “Inspection form configuration”, Procore Quality & Safety's “Inspection capture”, Tekmon's “Configurable audit and inspection templates” and Workhub's “Scheduled inspections”.
    • “Contractor qualification and check-in”: Mango QHSE's “Supplier and contractor audit requirements”, myosh's “Contractor registration and induction records” and Tekmon's “Contractor prequalification, access status and certificate expiry”.

SafetyAmp evaluation checks, for every candidate

    • Functional depth: Validate the complete incident and inspection lifecycle, including closure evidence and export. Source
    • Usability & adoption: Observe a frontline worker completing a realistic form and an SDS lookup; vendor mobile claims are not measured usability results. Source
    • Implementation & TCO: Compare the full first-year quote with the administrative workload it would replace. Source
    • Integrations & API: Request a sandbox walkthrough, API documentation and the proposed identity integration scope. Source
    • Security & trust: Request current product-level security evidence and role-access controls. Infrastructure certifications are not treated as product certification. Source

Leaving SafetyAmp: what to plan for

    • Safety data sheet content is a library to extract, and its entry points are physical. The record documents offline sheet access in the app and QR access to site sheets without a login, so printed codes may be posted across your sites. Export the sheets in a usable form, and plan to replace every posted code, or workers who scan an old one may reach a service you no longer pay for.
    • Time the move around the regulatory logs. The incident module documents exports in the OSHA 300, 300A and 301 formats, and the buyer remains responsible for recordability decisions and correct inputs. A move in the middle of a reporting period splits one record across two systems, so agree which system holds the master log and who assembles the combined picture.
    • Work out which selected applications you really use. Training, risk assessment and document control are chosen separately, and the external course library is a priced add-on. Each holds data that must come out: job safety analysis libraries, controlled procedures with their acknowledgements, and course completions. Content bought from a third party may not be portable, so check the licence terms.

Who may have reason to stay with SafetyAmp

    • Price shape can be the reason to stay. The entry plan is published at US$4,800 per year for one site and up to 100 employees, and the next plan covers up to 10 sites and 500 employees at an unpublished price. A single site inside the first boundary has a clear annual figure, so a move is easier to justify by a missing function than by a rate that was never compared on equal scope.
    • A complaint about weak closure checks may follow you elsewhere. The record says inspection findings can trigger assigned actions, reminders and resolution tracking, but an independent verifier or rejection of weak evidence was not established. The reviewed pages are silent on this, which is not proof of absence, and a replacement has to be asked the same question and shown the same exercise.
    • Consistency across sites is the documented reason to adopt, and it is also the cost of leaving. Teams that have built weighted inspection criteria, recurring schedules and location-level analysis would rebuild each of them elsewhere. If the aim is replacing spreadsheets with one workflow, moving between tools only repeats that effort unless the candidate removes a specific problem you can name.

What to test in a trial of a replacement for SafetyAmp

    • Repeat the inspection test without a connection and with an app restart. Complete a graded inspection with a photo requirement, close the app, reopen it and inspect what survived, then reconnect and look at the recovery path. Record each step that is not supported, rather than stopping at the first failure, since the record does not establish synchronization for inspections.
    • Test contractor readiness before arrival, not just at the gate. Create a contractor with an insurance document and a training requirement, show approval and rejection, check the visitor in at the proposed kiosk, then change an expiry date and see how the site team learns of it. Confirm what hardware and extra module the candidate needs for this.
    • Test the identity link with a leaver. Ask for the proposed single sign-on and workforce integration to be shown in a sandbox, then disable a test employee in the directory and check that access ends while their records stay. Request the interface documentation and limits in writing, since integrations are package-dependent and the work involved is easily underestimated.
