    When does EUDR apply?
    The EU Deforestation Regulation (EU 2023/1115) applies from 30 December 2025 for large and medium operators and traders, and from 30 June 2026 for micro and small enterprises. Both dates reflect the one-year extension adopted in December 2024. Enforcement is by Member State competent authorities, with penalties up to 4% of EU turnover.
    Which commodities are in scope?
    Seven primary commodities — cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soy and wood — plus a long list of derivative products defined by Combined Nomenclature (CN) codes. This includes leather, chocolate, tyres, tofu, palm-oil-derived surfactants and paper products. The EU publishes the CN code list in the regulation annex.
    What is a Due Diligence Statement (DDS)?
    The DDS is a per-shipment (or per-batch) declaration submitted via the EU TRACES NT information system, containing plot-level geolocation, quantity, supplier information and a statement that due diligence has been carried out with negligible risk of non-compliance. Downstream operators can reference upstream DDS numbers rather than repeat collection.
    What geolocation format is required?
    For plots up to 4 hectares producing anything other than cattle, a single GPS point is acceptable. For larger plots and for all cattle establishments, a polygon (list of latitude/longitude vertices with at least six decimal places precision) is required. Data is submitted as GeoJSON to TRACES NT.
