    EarthSoft EQuIS

EQuIS serves organizations with structured environmental datasets and specialized data-quality workflows. Its modules separate collection, screening, analysis and enterprise access. The important buying decision is the combination needed for your data formats and operating model.

    Who is EarthSoft EQuIS for?

Environmental consultancies, industrial operators and agencies coordinating structured monitoring datasets. Module prerequisites, Professional library level, schemas, report assemblies, hosting and format maintenance can create material implementation work. DQM flags require qualified human review, and an offline Collect COC requires custom services rather than being assumed in every subscription. Do not infer that Enterprise, Professional, Collect, DQM, Live, REST API or specialist formats are included together.

Worth evaluating when structured environmental data, repeatable laboratory formats and governed field collection are core requirements. Compare the full module and hosting proposal with your current data-management workload; a simple checklist need alone may not justify the implementation scope.

Watch for: Module and schema dependencies require planning.

    Capabilities and scope

EQuIS is EarthSoft's modular environmental and geotechnical data platform. Enterprise, Professional, Collect, EDP, Live and other named components have distinct roles and licensing. Collect is the field application; the portfolio should not be presented as one generic offline safety app.

Professional data administration and technical analysisDepends on scope

EQuIS Professional supports checking, editing, loading, querying, reporting and visualizing environmental, analytical-chemistry and geology data. It includes reference-value and action-level management, query and crosstab tools, security and schema access, data qualification support and multiple third-party exports. Available formats, analysis components and interfaces depend on the licensed Professional library and optional Decision Support modules.

Analytical-data qualification with DQMDepends on scope

DQM runs configurable checks for holding times, blank contamination, recoveries, precision, accuracy, reporting limits and other project criteria. Qualification events can be saved and reopened, suggested qualifiers and reasons reviewed, and selected qualifiers written to the EQuIS database. DQM is licensed through Professional PremierD or PremierDG, and EarthSoft explicitly places professional judgment with the validator rather than treating automated flags as final decisions.

Enterprise dashboards, maps and automated notificationsDepends on scope

Enterprise supports configurable dashboards assembled from reports, charts, tables, maps and other widgets. Published functions include EDD processing status, saved queries and exports with attached triggers, notifications, alerts, action-level traffic lights, time-series views and external web-service data. Dashboard permissions, project filters, report assemblies and workflow triggers require configuration and should be tested for the intended facilities and user roles.

Local offline Collect reports and chain of custodyDepends on scope

Collect Mobile can generate local form-summary reports, and EarthSoft documents an offline chain-of-custody PDF option. The offline COC is not a universal standard feature: it requires a licensed Collect module, the Collect schema and a custom Collect template built through EarthSoft services. Its PDF is local to the user and contains data collected on the selected form; buyers should test sharing, signatures, numbering and later reconciliation with the server record.

Ecological survey and species data (EQuIS Alive)Documented by vendor

EarthSoft lists EQuIS Alive as an optional module for ecological, biological, taxonomy and re-vegetation data. Its help pages describe repeatable surveys over defined areas, a hierarchical species taxonomy, habitat assessment and inventory of invasive, indigenous and protected species, and export of survey templates to field collection tools. This manages species and habitat survey records; it is not described as a TNFD or ESRS E4 disclosure tool, so confirm reporting outputs, licensing and the module's current maintenance.

Pricing is not publicly available as a complete numeric subscription in the reviewed sources, contact vendor. Collect is licensed annually with volume discounts advertised. Request separate pricing for Enterprise, Professional, Collect, EDP, REST API, hosting, formats, migration, support and training; confirm currency, minimums and renewal terms.

Which product scope should the quote cover?

A modular environmental and geotechnical data platform spanning Collect field capture, EDP deliverable screening, Professional administration and analysis, DQM qualification, Enterprise web dashboards and automation, REST interfaces and specialist schemas. Each application, library, schema, report and service must be scoped explicitly.

Ask the vendor to identify the product, region, modules, billing unit, contract term and included services in writing.

    Offline work and integrations

Collect Mobile can record field data offline, while upload to EQuIS still requires connectivity. Local form-summary reports are available, and an offline chain-of-custody PDF can be delivered through a custom Collect template, but that option requires licensed Collect, the Collect schema and EarthSoft services. Test form preparation, local backup, COC numbering and signatures, sharing, synchronization and server reconciliation before deployment.

    What we could not verify

    Demo script

Demo exercise: offline sample collection with data checks

    1. Publish a form with mandatory fields and reference values.
    2. Download required field material and record samples without connectivity.
    3. Reconnect, upload and inspect rejected or conflicting records.
    4. Generate and reconcile the chain-of-custody output.

Demo exercise: laboratory import and controlled export

    1. Import an EDD containing a deliberate invalid reference value.
    2. Inspect rejection details and correct the source record.
    3. Review the accepted data through the intended Enterprise or Professional workflow.
    4. Export through the proposed API and verify user permissions.

Demo exercise: laboratory result qualification to governed report

    1. Load a representative accepted laboratory dataset into a DQM qualification event and run the project-specific checks for holding times, blanks, recoveries, precision and reporting limits.
    2. Have a qualified reviewer inspect, accept or change the suggested qualifiers and reason codes, then save the event and selected qualification results to the governed database.
    3. Generate the DQM exception and qualified-results reports through the licensed Professional or Enterprise route, then verify the audit history and downstream reports affected by a later amended laboratory result.

Ask the vendor to show you

    1. Can we reconcile planned, collected and delivered samples while keeping missing, duplicate and unmatched records visible?
    2. How are original units, reporting limits and non-detect qualifiers preserved through checks, conversions and export?
    3. Can we import an amended laboratory result, retain the original and trace the review and affected reports?
    4. What field data must be prepared before disconnecting, and how do we verify server acceptance after synchronization?
    5. Can each proposed role export the authorized records, source files, attachments and revision history, and which modules and services are required?
    6. Which EQuIS Enterprise, Collect, EDP, format, hosting and export licenses are included in this proposal?

    Questions the sources answer

Is EQuIS Collect a standalone subscription?

Collect has annual subscription licensing, but the documented Enterprise installation also requires Enterprise, schema setup and license keys. Ask EarthSoft to specify all server and module dependencies for your deployment.

Can EQuIS screen laboratory data before acceptance?

EDP is the portfolio component for checking electronic data deliverables. The quality of checks depends on the formats and reference values configured for your program. Demonstrate your actual laboratory files.
