    Where the two scopes differ

The word supplier means different things here. In the 1factory record, suppliers send parts: incoming inspection plans, certificates, sampling rules that tighten or relax, scorecards and 8D corrective-action requests handled through a portal, all alongside drawing-linked inspection, first article reports and process-capability charts in the manufacturing scope. In the Avetta record, suppliers are companies and workers: Directory and Client-Connected memberships, tiers called Standard, Plus and Advanced that add verification as risk rises, and Worker Management with site and role requirements and training records. One asks whether a delivered lot is acceptable; the other asks whether a company or a worker may do the job.

Interfaces and connectivity are documented at different grain. 1factory describes interfaces for part data, orders, inspections and measurements, and separates selecting a measurement file from automated capture, which is an Enterprise option; the record says a published interface is not a turnkey ERP link, and no offline mode was established. Avetta documents public Worker Management API pages and, for one app only (Workforce by Avetta, paired with the Pegasus product), a mode that shows QR codes and company cards offline; the same article says a connection is still needed to open a worker's competency documents or role. The record says that behaviour must not be transferred to Avetta Worker Management Mobile.

Commercial terms differ in how much is published. 1factory lists $75 per Quality Control user a month (five minimum), $20 per connected supplier a month (five minimum) and $20 per QMS user a month (ten minimum), billed annually on a one-year term, with quoted Enterprise options; the record notes the currency was not confirmed beyond the dollar sign. Avetta publishes a Directory starting price of $249 a year, subject to region and eligibility, and no amount for Client-Connected tiers. Neither record verifies a free trial, and 1factory's Traveler and MES page carries a December 2026 availability label.

When each is the safer first demo

    Start with 1factory when

1factory suits a first demo when the opening requirement is a part on a drawing and the evidence that it was measured. Bring a revised drawing, a real CMM output file and one failing incoming lot, then ask to see the revision trail, the file mapping and the route from the failure to a closed supplier action.

    Start with Avetta when

Avetta suits a first demo when the opening requirement is deciding which companies and workers may work on a site. Bring two sites with different role requirements and one worker with a missing credential, then ask to see the company status, the worker status and the report that a site supervisor would use.

    A two-week evaluation plan

    Ask 1factory

    • Which of Quality Control users, connected suppliers, QMS users and Enterprise options (automated capture, interface access, hosting, validation, single sign-on) are in the quote, and are the minimums met?
    • Can you provide a dated plan for one drawing, one CMM file and one ERP handoff, with the owner of each step?

    Ask Avetta

    • Which membership tier and verifications does each of your suppliers need, and what happens to their charges when a second client or project is added?
    • Which app and platform are quoted, Avetta Worker Management Mobile or Workforce by Avetta on Pegasus, and what works with no connection on the worker's device and on the site's device?

Week 1: use the same real supplier relationship in both. In 1factory, receive one lot against an incoming plan, fail a characteristic, raise a nonconformance and an 8D request, and send back an incomplete reply. In Avetta, set up one supplier with one project's requirements, leave a credential missing and compare what the client, the supplier and the worker each see. Neither record shows a free trial, so ask for vendor-run workspaces configured with the options you would buy.

Week 2: test the handoffs. In 1factory, import a CMM output file with mixed units and pass one work order through the interface route, naming who owns a rejected message. In Avetta, expire a credential, open the worker view and report, then switch the worker's phone and the site's device offline one at a time. Finish by asking each vendor to total the quote including every option you used.

    Worked evaluation scenarios

These scenarios are hypothetical. They show how to turn the record facts into a demo test and what outcome would change a choice; they are not case studies or customer results.

Hypothetical: a machine shop receives a poor lot of castings

A machine shop receives a lot of castings and one dimension is out of tolerance on the first sample. The 1factory pages describe incoming inspection plans with certificates, normal, reduced and tightened sampling rules, and, in a separately licensed QMS scope, a nonconformance raised from the inspection and an 8D request sent through the supplier portal. The Avetta record describes company prequalification, insurance and risk monitoring, and describes no lot-level inspection. Receive one lot in 1factory, fail a characteristic, raise the request and return an incomplete reply. Then ask Avetta what it would show about the same supplier as a company. If the two answers never meet, decide who joins them.

Hypothetical: an approved contractor sends a worker whose ticket has lapsed

A contractor passes the client's company checks, and on Monday sends a worker whose required ticket expired last week. The Avetta record describes worker requirements by site and role, with variances and grace periods in the administrator reference, and separates company qualification from the individual's permission to do a task. The 1factory record places training and audit records in its separate QMS scope and describes no site-access decision. Create the worker in a test account, expire the credential and watch the worker view, the site view and a report. Ask who may grant a variance and where it is recorded. If the decision lives in a third system, add that system to the comparison.

Hypothetical: finance asks for one figure covering every user type

A finance team asks for a single annual figure covering inspectors, quality staff, suppliers and contractors. The 1factory pricing page lists separate units for Quality Control users, connected suppliers and QMS users, each with a minimum, a one-year term billed annually in advance, and quoted Enterprise options. The Avetta pages show a Directory starting price and unpriced Client-Connected tiers, with the currency to be confirmed. Ask each vendor to put every role, supplier connection, interface and tier on one quote, naming what is excluded. If a minimum applies to a unit you barely use, or a tier changes when a second client or project joins, add that to the budget before comparing.

What the records do not establish

    1factory

    • Offline inspection entry or synchronisation.
    • A standard implementation time, or an independently verified review score.
    • That a published interface is a ready-made link to your ERP or PLM, or that your equipment can feed automated capture.
    • That the Traveler and MES product, labelled for December 2026, is available.

    Avetta

    • A price for Client-Connected tiers or for hiring-client and worker-management scope, or a Directory price in your currency.
    • Disconnected qualification decisions in Avetta Worker Management Mobile.
    • That a prequalified supplier receives site access automatically.
    • A free self-service trial.

    Neither product

    • Which product reduces rework, supplier incidents or onboarding effort: no outcome comparison was reviewed.
    • Whether the security attestations each vendor names cover your deployment, since no report or certificate was reviewed.
