    Where the two scopes differ

The two records begin at different moments. AlertMedia is described as a set of selectable solutions around the warning: targeted multichannel notifications with response visibility, Incident Response with plans and tasks, Travel Risk Management with itineraries and destination briefs, and Employee Safety Monitoring with timed sessions, SOS and a monitoring team. Riskonnect is described as a portfolio in which Health & Safety covers the record that follows an event: incident intake, investigation, audits, corrective actions, permit-to-work, contractor and chemical scope, with Claims Management and wider risk and compliance products sold as separate scope.

Both vendors sell by scope, and each record warns against assuming the pieces are bundled. AlertMedia's pricing page says pricing is custom, solutions can be bought one by one or as a platform, and no setup fees are charged; the record does not substantiate an older per-user figure. Riskonnect describes project-based pricing and three implementation routes named Essentials, Pro and Tailored, which its GoLive page separates by timeline, fixed fee against time and materials, and the extent of custom integration. The records name HR and identity connectors on one side and product-specific APIs on the other, and in each case entitlement remains to be confirmed.

Connectivity and assurance are open points in both. Neither record establishes a disconnected incident workflow; AlertMedia's lone-worker timer is the one documented offline behaviour and Riskonnect's record warns against borrowing offline claims from other products in its portfolio. The AlertMedia record lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type 2, TX-RAMP and Cyber Essentials from its trust centre, with no certificate or report reviewed. The Riskonnect record lists no certification, which leaves the question open instead of answering it.

When each is the safer first demo

    Start with AlertMedia when

AlertMedia suits a first demo when the opening requirement is reaching people and seeing who has answered. Bring a test roster and an office to target, then ask to see unanswered contacts, a follow-up task handed to another department and the report that closes the drill, with each step labelled by the solution it needs.

    Start with Riskonnect when

Riskonnect suits a first demo when the opening requirement is what happens to an event record afterwards. Bring one injury and one failed audit item, then ask to see investigation, a corrective action with rejected evidence, the claims handoff and what a safety user cannot open.

    A two-week evaluation plan

    Ask AlertMedia

    • Which of the four named solutions (notification, incident response, travel risk, employee safety monitoring) does the quote list, how are contacts and channel use charged, and where does included onboarding end?
    • Which HR or identity connector, fields and update timing apply, and what happens to a leaver in alert targeting and in access?

    Ask Riskonnect

    • Which safety modules and which claims licence does the quote name, and which implementation route covers your configuration and interfaces?
    • Which interface applies to the quoted product, who maintains it, and what happens after a failed import?

Week 1: run an event from each end. In AlertMedia, load a test roster, target one office with a drill message, check acknowledgements, follow up with the people who did not respond and export the drill record. In Riskonnect, enter an event as a frontline reporter, route the investigation and corrective work to named owners and check which fields a safety user cannot see. No free trial is verified for either, so ask for vendor-run tenants with the solutions you would buy.

Week 2: test the join. In AlertMedia, import a response plan, hand one task to a second department and repeat it on the phones your responders carry, or run an authorised lone-worker session across a coverage gap. In Riskonnect, pass an event to claims as proposed, check the shared fields and simulate a failed import. Finish by asking each vendor to total the quote with every named solution, module and implementation route.

    Worked evaluation scenarios

These scenarios are hypothetical. They show how to turn the record facts into a demo test and what outcome would change a choice; they are not case studies or customer results.

Hypothetical: a drill after a chemical release near an office

A company runs a drill for a chemical release near one office. The AlertMedia pages describe selecting an audience, seeing responses, assigning follow-up through Incident Response and reporting on actions afterwards, and the record asks which steps belong to which solution. The Riskonnect Health & Safety record describes intake, investigation and corrective follow-up for an event, and describes no mass notification. Send a test message in AlertMedia to a roster, chase the people who do not answer and export the drill record. Then enter the same event in Riskonnect as an incident and route the corrective work. If the two records of one event have to be joined by hand, name the owner.

Hypothetical: a lone worker's session ends inside a coverage gap

A technician starts a timed lone-worker session in a valley where coverage drops. The AlertMedia record says the countdown carries on with no cell signal and the data syncs once service returns, adds that the monitoring team works from the last known location, and says this does not establish a live alarm while disconnected. The Riskonnect record describes no lone-worker solution and says offline Health & Safety operation was not established. Run an authorised exercise: start a session, remove coverage before it expires and have the monitoring provider explain what it saw and when. If a requirement is a live alarm during the gap, treat the documented behaviour as insufficient.

Hypothetical: an injury at work becomes an insurance claim

An employee is injured and the insurer opens a claim two weeks later. The Riskonnect record describes incident intake, investigation, corrective actions and a separate Claims Management solution with assignment, reserves, settlement and closure, and asks which fields cross and who may see financial or personal claim data. The AlertMedia record describes post-incident reporting and no claims function. Enter a sample injury in Riskonnect, pass it to claims as proposed and record what happens when a safety user tries to open a restricted field. Ask AlertMedia what its post-incident report can export and to which system. If claims sit outside the quote, add that scope before comparing.

What the records do not establish

    AlertMedia

    • A per-user or per-solution price, or a free self-service tenant.
    • A disconnected incident workflow, or administration of notifications without a connection.
    • That a lone-worker alarm reaches monitoring while the phone has no coverage.
    • That Incident Response, Travel Risk Management or Employee Safety Monitoring come with a Mass Notification purchase.

    Riskonnect

    • An amount for the Health & Safety subscription, or an unrestricted trial.
    • Offline capture or synchronisation for Health & Safety tasks.
    • That claims, risk or compliance products share an entitlement with Health & Safety.

    Neither product

    • Which product leads to fewer injuries or a faster response: no outcome or delivery data was reviewed.
    • Whether any stated certification or report covers the product you would buy, as none was reviewed.
