    Where the two scopes differ

These two records start from different buyers. RLDatix is described as patient-safety and governance software for hospitals and health systems, and its own record says it is not an industrial or occupational EHS suite. The reviewed modules are event reporting, root cause analysis, a risk register, claims, safety huddles, accreditation rounding and policy management. The Riskonnect record is about the Health & Safety product of a wider portfolio, aimed at organisations that want workplace safety operations to connect with risk and insurance teams. Its listed scope is incident intake and investigation, audits with corrective actions, and contractor, chemical and permit-to-work features marked conditional. So the word event means a clinical harm or near miss in one record and a workplace incident in the other.

Both pages describe a path from an event to a claim, and both records say that claims is a separate module. RLDatix describes reserves, settlements and expenses linked to events in its safety product; Riskonnect describes assignment, reserves, settlement and closure. In neither case does the record show that a safety licence includes claims, so that line has to be priced on its own. Risk registers differ in the same way. The RLDatix register is documented as clinical, operational and reputational risks with impact and likelihood scoring. Riskonnect documents richer register features, such as appetite and tolerance alerts and control testing, under its operational-risk and compliance solutions, and the record asks buyers to keep that scope apart from a Health & Safety subscription.

Standards content and delivery also differ. RLDatix names a library of more than 400 accreditation standards, with CMS, TJC, DNV, ACHC and CIHQ listed, and a separate UK and Ireland product that documents LFPSE and PSIRF support. Riskonnect's record points to OSHA recordability and submission, regulatory-change content under its compliance solution, and three published implementation approaches: Essentials, Pro Configuration and Tailored Configuration. RLDatix has no public help centre and its product documentation sits behind a customer login, so depth is confirmed in a demo. Neither vendor publishes a subscription amount.

When each is the safer first demo

    Start with RLDatix when

RLDatix is the safer first demo when the event to be tested is a patient or care-delivery event and the buyer is a hospital or health system. Bring one synthetic fall, with no real identifiers, and ask to see the narrative capture feature, the fields it filled, how the reporter corrects them and whether the original wording is kept. Then ask what a unit manager and central quality staff can each open, because the record asks for that comparison.

    Start with Riskonnect when

Riskonnect is the safer first demo when the event is a workforce incident that has to reach investigators, corrective owners and an insurance or claims team, or when audits and regulatory outputs sit on the same list. Name the Health & Safety modules and the claims licence before the session, then check that a safety user cannot open restricted financial or personal claim fields after the handoff.

    A two-week evaluation plan

    Ask RLDatix

    • Itemise the proposal module by module, with migration from your current system, interfaces, training, term and renewal as separate lines, and say which regional edition is in scope.
    • Ask whether the AI narrative feature is licensed in your region and module set. The time saving the vendor quotes is its own claim.

    Ask Riskonnect

    • List the Health & Safety modules and any claims licence, then say which portfolio products share data with them and who owns that access.
    • Name the implementation approach, its deliverables and acceptance criteria, and the API that applies to the product you would actually buy.

Week 1, the event path. Record the same synthetic event in each product, assign an investigation and a corrective owner, and reject one weak closure. For RLDatix, add the risk register entry that follows from a root cause analysis. For Riskonnect, add a failed audit item with evidence and watch it reach a reviewed action. Then ask what each does when the application or network is unavailable. Neither record establishes a free trial, so agree a vendor-run environment, users and test data before the clock starts.

Week 2, the handoffs. Convert the event into a claim in each, enter a reserve and an expense, and write down which parts of the event record risk, legal, finance and safety users can each see. Then test the part that is specific to each vendor. For RLDatix, walk an environment-of-care round on a handheld device, photograph one finding, raise the work order it calls for and then walk the same round with the network disconnected. For Riskonnect, push a sample employee or site change through the proposed interface, break the import on purpose and see who owns recovery. Finish by pricing both for the same hospital or site list, using the modules you saw.

What the records do not establish

    RLDatix

    • A software price, currency, term or trial.
    • Offline safety event reporting. The offline product named is for downtime of a separate patient record system.
    • Whether the claims module and the narrative feature are in the package you would be quoted.
    • Fit for industrial, construction or occupational health and safety work.

    Riskonnect

    • A numeric Health & Safety subscription, or an unrestricted free trial.
    • Disconnected capture or synchronisation for any Health & Safety task.
    • That permit-to-work, contractor or chemical features are part of the modules you would buy.
    • Whether the risk assessment you need sits in Health & Safety or in a separately licensed risk module.

    Neither product

    • Implementation time, total cost or user satisfaction: both records are reviews of vendor material.
    • That an incident-to-claim demonstration on test data matches how restricted records behave in your live set-up.

How should I compare offline capability?
Use the exact proposed mobile application and plan. Download required data, disconnect, create a record with a photo, reconnect and inspect synchronization. Record which preparation and tasks require connectivity.
How should I decide between these products?
Set acceptance criteria for your actual workflow. Complete the same demo, record observed results separately from vendor statements and resolve remaining questions in a scoped pilot. The linked profiles show the sources and review status for each product.
