Already using Safeti? What its record leaves open

    Limitations the Safeti profile records:

    • Results rest on user-supplied inputs and need specialist skills
    • Links to other systems are not described, and the Veracity plan page could not be read

Available only under stated conditions or not documented (checked 2 October 2026): Occupied buildings risk assessment; Extended Explosions add-on; Multi-Component and Solid Explosions add-ons; CFD results import; Regulatory recognition; Exchange with business systems. Check each against the contract you hold.

Safeti evaluation checks, for every candidate

    • Inputs and competence: Results come from data the analyst supplies. Check who will build and review studies and whether the courses fit. Source
    • Add-ons and version: List the outputs you need, such as exceedance curves, mixtures or CFD import, and confirm the add-on and version each needs. Source
    • Licence type and price basis: Compare licence types and subscription or perpetual options, ask how the monthly rate applies to your term, and check hardware and virtual machine limits against your IT environment. Source
    • Regulatory acceptance: Ask for evidence that your regulators accept Safeti results and for the validation document the FAQ says is available on request. Source

Leaving Safeti: what to plan for

    • The asset to protect is the set of completed studies, and results depend on inputs the analyst supplied: leak frequencies, ignition, weather, population and vulnerability. The record describes export of contours as shapefiles and Excel exchange, and nothing about opening a study in another tool. Archive each study with the version that produced it and a written register of inputs, and a new tool may give different numbers that you would have to explain.
    • Record which add-ons and versions produced each past report. Extended Explosions needs a valid Safeti or Phast version, multi-component mixtures and solid explosions have their own add-ons, and importing CFD results needs version 9.1 or later. A replacement has to reproduce the same methods, such as the multi-energy and Baker-Strehlow-Tang explosion methods and the API 752 and 753 guidance named for occupied buildings.
    • Check acceptance before you change tools. Statements that regulators accept the software, that a Dutch national institute uses its Netherlands edition and that a US regulator approved a Phast version are the vendor's own, and a submission accepted from one tool may be questioned when it comes from another. Keep the verification and validation document, and settle what happens to a dongle or network licence server and to analysts trained on the courses.

Who may have reason to stay with Safeti

    • A site whose risk results have already been accepted by its regulator has a specific reason to stay. The product is for engineers and consultants who must produce numerical risk results for major hazard sites, occupied buildings or layouts, and switching reopens the question of whether the new tool's results will be accepted, whatever its features.
    • The record is explicit that this is an engineering modelling tool and not a management system with workflows, records or registers. Candidates matched on this page by shared category may be management systems that do no modelling at all. If what you miss is a register or an action tracker, adding one beside the modelling software is an alternative to replacing the software.
    • Cost is a question of licence type and term. The Individual licence is published from EUR 16,513 a month for unshared use and the Network licence from EUR 19,428 for simultaneous users, with the explosions add-on from EUR 3,303 a month. Because the record says the effect of term length on the monthly rate is not stated, a cost-led move should first test whether another licence type or term would suit.

What to test in a trial of a replacement for Safeti

    • Reproduce a study you have already completed. Set up one of your own facility layouts with the same leak frequencies, weather and population inputs, run it, compare individual risk contours, the societal curve and contributor points with the archived results, change one mitigation measure and compare before and after, and export the contours to your mapping software. Write down every difference and its cause.
    • Test consequence modelling on your own substances: one flammable and one toxic release, with discharge, dispersion, fire and explosion effects, then a two-phase multi-component release to see whether an extra module is needed, and a CFD results file from your own tool to find the version it requires. Ask for the validation document and read what it actually covers.
    • Settle the practical licensing questions in writing. Which licence type and term suit your users, how the monthly rate changes between a one-month and a multi-year term, which version arrives and what support and upgrades cover, and whether the hardware, virtual machine or dongle arrangements work in your IT environment, given that some virtualisation tools are listed as unsupported.
