EU Green Deal Compliance Software — 2026 Buyer's Hub

The European Green Deal turned into a stack of binding directives — CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, CBAM, CSDDD, ESPR with Digital Product Passport, the EU Battery Regulation and the Net-Zero Industry Act. This hub maps each pillar to the right software category and the platforms most ready for 2026 reporting cycles.

The 6 software pillars of EU Green Deal compliance

No single product covers the whole Green Deal stack. Most successful programmes combine an ESG/CSRD platform with carbon, product-compliance and due-diligence tooling. Below: the pillars and where to start.

    CSRD / ESRS Disclosure

Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (effective FY 2024 onwards in waves) requires ESRS-aligned disclosures across E1–E5, S1–S4 and G1 with limited and eventually reasonable assurance.

    EU Taxonomy Alignment

Revenue, CapEx and OpEx must be classified against the EU Taxonomy's substantial-contribution and DNSH criteria — a non-trivial data and evidence challenge for industrial groups.

    ESG software comparison →

    CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment)

Importers of cement, iron, steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen must quantify embedded emissions and, from 2026, surrender CBAM certificates.

    Carbon accounting software →

    Circular Economy & Right-to-Repair

Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Digital Product Passport (DPP) and right-to-repair rules reshape product data requirements across batteries, electronics, textiles and more.

    CSDDD (Due Diligence)

Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive requires risk-based human-rights and environmental due diligence across in-scope companies' chain of activities.

    Supply chain due diligence →

Green Deal Industrial Plan & EBP

Net-Zero Industry Act, Critical Raw Materials Act and EU Battery Regulation introduce supply-chain transparency, recycled-content and battery-passport (EBP) requirements from 2027.

    2024–2028 compliance timeline

    • FY 2024 → CSRD wave 1 (large EU PIEs), CBAM transitional reporting in force.
    • FY 2025 → CSRD wave 2 (large EU companies), EUDR effective for in-scope commodities.
    • 2026 → CBAM certificate surrender begins; CSRD wave 3 (listed SMEs) opens.
    • 2027 → EU Battery Passport mandatory for industrial and EV batteries; first ESPR DPPs.
    • FY 2028 → CSRD wave 4 (non-EU groups with EU activity); CSDDD phased application complete.

How to pick the right software

    1. Map your exposure: which directives apply, by entity, sector and footprint.
    2. Anchor on the largest disclosure (usually CSRD) and pick a primary ESG/CSRD platform.
    3. Add a specialist carbon tool if CBAM, Scope 3 or SBTi targets are material.
    4. Add product-compliance (DPP, EU Battery Regulation) and due-diligence (CSDDD) tooling as needed.
    5. Insist on assurance-grade audit trails and ESRS-tagged data export.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is EU Green Deal compliance software?
EU Green Deal compliance software is a category of platforms that helps companies meet the data, evidence and disclosure requirements introduced by the European Green Deal — including CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, CBAM, CSDDD, ESPR (Digital Product Passport) and the EU Battery Regulation. It consolidates ESG, supply-chain due diligence and product-sustainability data in audit-ready form.
Which directives and regulations are in scope?
The core stack is CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy (2020/852), CBAM (2023/956), CSDDD, ESPR with Digital Product Passport, EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542), Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Methane Regulation and the Net-Zero Industry Act — each with different scopes, timelines and disclosure formats.
Which is the best software for EU Green Deal compliance?
Top platforms in 2026 include Tekmon for unified QHSE + ESG, Quentic for European-strong EHS + sustainability, Enablon for enterprise sustainability, Sphera for product compliance and CBAM, and Watershed for carbon accounting. The right choice depends on which directives most affect your sector and footprint.
    When does CSRD take effect?
CSRD applies in waves: large EU public-interest entities reported on FY 2024, large EU companies on FY 2025, listed SMEs from FY 2026 (with opt-out to 2028) and certain non-EU parents with EU operations from FY 2028. Each wave requires limited assurance, transitioning to reasonable assurance.
Do non-EU companies need to comply?
Yes — non-EU groups with significant EU revenue or EU subsidiaries fall in scope of CSRD from FY 2028, and any importer regardless of origin falls in scope of CBAM if importing covered goods. CSDDD also applies to large non-EU companies generating revenue in the EU above thresholds.
    How does CBAM reporting work?
From 2026, importers of CBAM-covered goods must surrender CBAM certificates equivalent to the embedded greenhouse-gas emissions of imports, less any carbon price already paid in the country of origin. Quarterly transitional reporting has been in place since October 2023.
What is a Digital Product Passport?
A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a structured digital record of a product's composition, origin, repairability, recycled content and end-of-life information, mandated by ESPR for selected product groups starting with batteries (2027), textiles and consumer electronics.
How long does an EU Green Deal compliance rollout take?
Indicative timelines: CSRD double-materiality + data collection 6–9 months; CBAM importer setup 2–4 months; full CSDDD due-diligence programme 9–18 months; Digital Product Passport pilots 6–12 months — with significant overlap when running an integrated programme.
