Where the two scopes differ
The two records describe different shapes of purchase. osapiens HUB is presented as a shared data foundation under separately selected suites: Carbon Management, Disclosures & Reporting, Supplier Intelligence, and Audit & Quality Assurance. The record also lists a separate EUDR offering, a CBAM solution and an EU Taxonomy solution, and warns that a shared platform does not mean one inclusive licence. Persefoni is described as an organisational carbon inventory with reporting on top, sold on two plans, a permanent free Pro plan and an Advanced plan quoted on request. The first record asks which suites you are buying; the second asks which plan, and which features are paid additions to it.
On the carbon side both documents describe Scope 1, 2 and 3 work, and the differences are in the surrounding controls. The osapiens record lists corporate data collection with contributor input and API import, a separately activated product footprint module, and emission-database entitlements that vary by module, including ecoinvent. The Persefoni record stresses calculation detail: formula, conversion and factor visibility, review and audit controls, and report locking. It also says several of those controls carry coming-soon or forthcoming labels on official pages, so the two Persefoni pages disagree about what is live. Supplier data is the same kind of question: osapiens documents questionnaires, evidence and requalification workflows within Supplier Intelligence, while Persefoni separates responding to requests in Pro from sending them in Advanced and keeps a coming-soon label on the supplier page.
Reporting and field work diverge most. osapiens records an owner, source document, timestamp and revision history for each reporting data point, and its audit suite documents offline mobile checklists with later synchronisation. Persefoni documents a report builder with attachments, activity tracking and locking, plan-specific exports, and an AI feature that flags statistical anomalies, which the record says should be treated as a prompt for review. No offline workflow is established for Persefoni, and the osapiens record says offline audit does not extend to carbon calculation or disclosure editing. Neither record shows a subscription price for the full programme: osapiens had no pricing page when checked, and Persefoni published only its free entry plan.

When each is the safer first demo
Start with osapiens HUB when
osapiens HUB is the safer first demo when the first requirement is evidence that moves between teams: a supplier answer that corrects a carbon figure, which then appears in a reporting output with its owner and revision history. Ask the vendor to name the suite behind every step, and to say whether the emission factor library used in the demo is licensed for your use. If audits matter, start the session on the phone, not in the web application.
Start with Persefoni when
Persefoni is the safer first demo when one person needs to build a first inventory and see exactly what the free plan produces before any proposal. Run the demo in a Pro account, then repeat the steps that need Advanced and label them. Ask the vendor to point out each feature that still shows a coming-soon label, so that you know what you would be accepting.
A two-week evaluation plan
Ask osapiens HUB
- List the suites, external datasets, entities, supplier access, connectors and implementation as separate lines, and say whether any EUDR or CBAM offering is a different purchase.
- Ask which emission databases each carbon module includes and what the licence allows for your products and intended use.
Ask Persefoni
- Name the plan for each requirement and itemise the extra users, report add-ons, integrations, onboarding and support that the free plan does not cover.
- Ask for every coming-soon capability to be shown live in your account, and record the date it is promised for any that is not.
Week 1, the same small data set in both. Load a utility bill and a supplier record, check unit validation and duplicate handling, and trace one result back to its input, factor and version. Then change a factor or correct a value and see what happens to a figure that has already been reported. Neither record establishes a free trial. Persefoni offers a permanent free plan, so use it, and for osapiens request a vendor-run environment on the quoted suites.
Week 2, reports and the edges. Produce one disclosure deliverable from each product, attach evidence, and ask who can change a locked or approved value afterwards. In osapiens, run an audit on a phone with the connection off, restart the app, reconnect and check the synchronised record. In Persefoni, interrupt an upload and see what recovers. Close by comparing what each quote includes against what you saw, keeping estimated and supplier-provided inputs apart.
What the records do not establish
osapiens HUB
- A subscription amount for any suite, or a pricing page.
- Offline carbon accounting or disclosure editing; only mobile audits are documented offline.
- That an EU Taxonomy suggestion, a CBAM export or a supplier answer is an approved judgement or a compliant filing.
- Which emission databases and product boundaries your proposal would include.
Persefoni
- An Advanced subscription amount.
- That the controls still labelled coming soon are live in your account.
- Disconnected calculation or mobile capture.
- That a reporting template or an anomaly flag amounts to compliance or independent assurance.
Neither product
- Which product gives a more accurate footprint or faster reporting: no measurement was reviewed.
- Implementation effort, support quality or total cost for the same programme.
Written from the profile records and the decision guide above, not from a hands-on test. Where a record is silent, the page says so instead of filling the gap.
